History of Gandhidham Kutch

The town of Gandhidham is located in the Indian state of Gujarat, and it is a popular tourist destination. This town is located in the Kachchh district, which is located in the north western part of the state. The town of Gandhidham is a planned one that is divided into many sectors, and this was mainly because this town was constructed with the sole aim of accommodating refugees from Pakistan after the partition. The town of Gandhidham has a major port, called as Kandla port.

There are many places of interest in the town of Gandhidham, and the entire region is mainly famous for its many Jain centres. Gujarat has a lot of Jain temples and centres, and Gandhidham is no exception to this rule, as it houses Bhadreshwar, which is a major pilgrimage centre for Jains in India. The temple houses a huge statue of Lord Shiva, which can be seen in the ground floor of the structure. You can even see the various beautiful sculptures inscribed in the outer walls of this magnificent structure, during your travel around Gandhidham. The Shiva temple in Kera, built during the 10th century, is yet another spot of tourist attraction. You can also visit the 10th century temple in Purneshwar.

Best Season / Best time to visit Gandhidham

The town of Gandhidham experiences a tropical climate, and the monsoons here are very wild as they bring about torrential rainfall. Summers in the town of Gandhidham are extremely hot, as the mercury will soar to unbearable levels, and winters are very cold.

The months of March, April, May, and June are the summer months in the town of Gandhidham. Summer goes on till early June, as late June is characterized by showers. The maximum temperature that the region will experience during the summer months is forty two degrees (42°C) and the minimum temperature during summer will be around twenty eight degrees (28°C). This is not an ideal time to visit Gandhidham.

Monsoons in Gandhidham are very harsh, due to its proximity to the sea. The monsoon months of late June, July, August and September will bring about abundant rainfall, thus bringing down the temperatures considerably.

Winters are the best time to visit Gandhidham. The winter months in Gandhidham are the months of October, November, December and January. Temperatures during this time soar to a maximum of twenty seven degrees (27°C) and fall to a minimum of seven degrees (7°C) during nightfall. Carrying along woollen clothing is mandatory.

These hotels offer all basic services and also excellent communication facilities. Short tours are organized to places of interest and the tourists are also entertained with a variety of cultural events showcasing local tradition and culture.

Transportation is very efficient with both automobiles as well as domestic animals used effectively. Camels act as major source of transportation.
